For founders, freelancers and creatives

Want an O-1 visa without a U.S. employer? A U.S. agent can be your petitioner.

You cannot file your own O-1 petition, and you may not have one U.S. employer to file it. The O-1 rules let a U.S. agent file instead. Aventus is that agent, working alongside your attorney.

Who uses a U.S. agent as petitioner

Founders

You run your own company, and it cannot or should not be your petitioner.

Freelancers and consultants

Your work comes from several clients rather than one U.S. employer.

Artists, creatives and performers

Shows, projects or commissions with different U.S. venues and producers.

Anyone with no single U.S. employer

Remote work for a foreign company, or several U.S. engagements in one period.

Chat with our O-1A eligibility assistant

Tell the assistant about your work, awards, press and pay. In a few minutes it shows how your record lines up with the O-1A criteria. It is free, and it is a screening aid, not a legal opinion.

How it works

  1. Check your eligibility, free. Start the chat with the assistant above to see how your record lines up with the O-1A criteria.
  2. Sign up. Choose Aventus as your U.S. agent petitioner on the sign-up page, where pricing is shown.
  3. Your attorney prepares the petition. We work alongside your attorney, who builds the evidence and advises you.
  4. Aventus files as your petitioner. We sign and file Form I-129 as your U.S. agent under 8 CFR 214.2(o)(2)(iv)(E) and stay your petitioner for the validity period.

Common questions

Can I petition for myself?

No. An O-1 beneficiary cannot file their own petition. A U.S. agent can file it for you, and Aventus Visa Agents LLC acts as that agent.

Do I need an attorney?

Yes. We work alongside your attorney, who prepares the petition and advises you. Aventus signs and files as your U.S. agent petitioner. Aventus is not a law firm and does not give legal advice.

What does it cost?

Pricing is shown on the sign-up page. Government filing fees, and any optional premium processing fee, are separate and paid to USCIS.

Is the eligibility check a legal opinion?

No. It is a free screening aid that shows how your record lines up with the O-1A criteria. Your attorney decides the visa category and how the case is presented.

Does a U.S. agent become my employer?

Not necessarily. An agent can file for people who are traditionally self-employed or who work with several employers. Your attorney confirms which format fits your facts.
